DEMOLISHING..... Constructions...or environment

well polution in our city is always on peek. And if u can see anyone least bothered are ....us.Everyone talks about ..'one should do this and that so and so...' but no one really makes an attempt to atleast give it a try themselves. One of the very good example would be my experience on this sunday afternoon itself.
It was sunday afternoon.. around 4 pm. the last sunday of may..... you can imagine what would be the climate. it was dam hot and humid. and I really dont know what the hell on this earth made me to go outside at that time...Oh yeah...!!! I wanted to buy some hardware. On my way the road took me to the junction, where a truck with full of debris from the nearby demolition of old building, which was proposed site for multi-storied tower or may be the latest fad... some posh mall...
As it passed by it created the cloud of dust making the scene worse it also dropped some debris on the road. when i went further to see whats actually going on I could see dozens of more trucks/ dumpers lined up to carry more loads of debris. and the area was full of smog and dust. hahahaha, A child in me brought a weird imagination ... as if the site was on fire, and smoke spreading from its fire.
And one more big thing.....it was just next to municipalty office
to my own surprise nobody taking any discplinary action about it. If not at least some request asking for some solution .... i mean... accepted.... buidings would be demolished, debris would still come but gimme a break some... something that can be done..!!!
Well if I was in charge of the pollution control board, I would have passed a resolution that no buiding, construction would be demolished without dust protection like water sprinklers to keep the dust down, covering the trucks , wall copounds with tarpauline sheets etc.penalising the buiders, blacklisting them for not following the rules and guidelines.
I remember while I was in Goa, I was told the similar situation about mine industries and debris carrying truck. Civilians found pollution problems by the dustspilling from the open trucks carrying mining ores from the sites to port. Civilians were lately facing many deaseases because of all this so the people protested agaist it. The local government took the immediate action and stopped the transportation of these trucks. made a strict rule that the dumpers , trucks should be covered with tarpauline sheets while transporting such polluting materials. and thenafter the effect was good , the city was free atleast from ore spillage.
The roads ware also sprinkled with water to keep the dust low and down.
I think if government is for people then there must be a system from which the higher authorities in government can take complaints, suggestions from fellow civic bodies.
well I really dont know how this effort of mine is going to make difference on its own. but if someone is actually reading and is really concerned about the issue then please dont wait... your one step can make a difference.
